Football Alberta has announced the invitees for the upcoming final selection camps for Team Alberta U18 girls and boys teams.
The lists of players were determined after a pair of camps held over the last two weekends and those selected will move on for further evaluation.
The final selection camp for the boys will be held over May long weekend in Red Deer and on June 3-4 in Calgary for the girls.
In the media release, they explained the girls’ list is smaller than the boys’ due to the girls playing on the 6-a-side and the boys’ 12-a-side. Once the finals rosters are determined both teams will play in the Football Canada National Championships this summer.
Five girls from central Alberta were selected for the final camp including Kaylee Belbeck (Wetaskiwin), Brooke O’Connor (Wetaskiwin), CharleyAnna Ware (Wetaskiwin), LibertyJo Ware (Wetaskiwin), and Lillian Watkinson (Innisfail).
And over a dozen boys were also selected including Marek Filipek (Red Deer Hunting Hills), Elliott Wyse (Lacombe), Aldin Bilabegovic (Red Deer Hunting Hills), Riley Hutton (Rocky Mountain House West Central), Adnesse Pannenbecker (Lacombe), Blair VanBrunschot (Olds), Kieran Peterson (Red Deer Notre Dame), Daxon Tanner (Red Deer Lindsay Thurber), Austin Wiebe (Stettler), Jesse Lumeka (Red Deer, Lindsay Thurber), Nathan Okoroafor (Stettler), Ethan Bilo (Red Deer, Hunting Hills), Riley Easton (Red Deer, Hunting Hills), and Cooper Niedermaier (Red Deer, Hunting Hills).
