Rookie National Finals Rodeo qualifier Ben Anderson cashed his first-ever Finals cheque courtesy of an 86.5 ride Thursday night.

The Rocky Mountain House man finished third in saddle bronc riding on Canada Night at the Wrangler NFT, only finishing behind 91-point rides from Layton Green and Stetson Wright.

Anderson, who is 14th in the aggregate standings, earned $16,111, while Green and Wright earned $24,167 each.

Wright continues to lead the World, but is in ninth place in the aggregate. His brother Ryder is second overall and fifth in the aggregate. Brody Cress sits third in the World standings ($60,000 behind Stetson), but the Wyoming bronc rider leads the aggregate, and if he holds onto that spot, he would receive a $70,000 additional cheque on Saturday night.
