Central Alberta’s Brady Mckinlay climbs the leaderboard in Alberta Open Championship

The tournament has amateur and pro golfers

After the first day of the 2022 Alberta Open Championship on Tuesday at Sundre Golf Club Ethan Choi from Lethbridge is leading the way.

The tournament features professional and amateur golfers from across the province including in central Alberta.

Brady Mckinlay from the Lacombe Golf and Country Club finished the day tied for fourth after having a great start at three-under-par. On Wednesday midway through day two he shot a 70 to move himself up to second place.

The next best after the first day is Scott Shouldice from Sundre Golf Club tied for 16th place shooting even par on the day.

Red Deer’s Grant Numrich isn’t far behind him sitting tied for 23rd place at one-over par. Dane Thorogood, from Sundre Golf Club, and Sylvan Lake’s Logan Graf, both shot two-over-par and are tied for 29th. Also from Red Deer is Alex Gerrard who shot three-over-par and is tied for 38th. Leighton Bearchell from Sundre Golf Club finished the day four over par as well as Matt Bean shot six-over-par.

From the Innisfail Golf Club is Jace Ouellette who shot seven over par and Joe Kelly who shot 23 over par.

Red Deer’s Cole Bergheim had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury.

The competition continues on Wednesday and a champion will be decided on the final day on Thursday, June 23.
