CHICAGO — Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is scheduled for a court hearing next week to answer charges he and his cousin beat up a cab driver in his hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., over the weekend.

That’s the same day a U.S. Olympic Men’s Hockey orientation camp starts in suburban Chicago. USA Hockey spokesman Dave Fischer said Monday that Kane is still expected to participate in the three-day camp.

A court spokeswoman said Kane and his cousin, James Kane, are scheduled to appear before a judge next Monday.

Police say a cab driver was beaten early Sunday because he did not have 20 cents in change to give Kane, the 2008 NHL Rookie of the Year, and his cousin.

Both men were charged with felony robbery and misdemeanour counts of theft and criminal mischief. Patrick Kane pleaded not guilty.
