Edmonton police have charged a British Columbia man after an investigation into two armoured guard robberies in 2018 that involved explosive devices.

In December, two guards were injured in a blast during an early morning holdup at a Scotiabank branch.

The man and a woman employed by GardaWorld suffered head and facial injuries.

Early on Sept. 19, police were called to an RBC branch after an improvised explosive device went off inside the vestibule just as two guards arrived.

They weren’t seriously hurt.

Police say Justin Byron, of Salmon Arm, B.C., faces robbery with a firearm, attempted robbery, using an explosive device, aggravated assault and other charges.
