Edmonton Eskimos linebacker Javier Glatt has retired after eight CFL seasons, the club announced Tuesday. The 29-year-old Glatt spent his first seven years with the B.C. Lions before signing with Edmonton for the 2010 campaign. “I have had a blast over the course of my entire eight-year CFL career and feel very fortunate to have met so many amazing people along the way and enjoy so many incredible experiences on the football field,” Glatt said in a release. The Lions selected Glatt in the second round of the 2003 draft, 15th overall.

He spent three seasons as a backup before earning a starting middle linebacker spot in 2006. Glatt enjoyed his best season in 2008, finishing with 88 defensive tackles, seven special teams tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two quarterback sacks. He was also named a West Division all-star. In 2010 with Edmonton, Glatt had 27 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble.
