Jordan Hemstad of the Red Deer Midget B team #2 breaks in on the Kneehill Bulldogs goaltender during lacrosse action at the Kin City Arenas in Red Deer on Sunday. The clubs were concluding the Central Alberta Lacrosse League season-opening competition — the Eye Opener tournament — at Kin City and the Collicutt Centre, a three-day girls’ and boys’ event that also featured teams in the minitykes, tykes, novice and bantam divisions from Red Deer, Olds, Ponoka, Lacombe, Blackfalds, Innisfail, Hobbema, Three Hills, Didsbury and Drumheller. The score from the midget game was unavailable, but in peewee play during the weekend, the Red Deer Flames Warriors downed Red Deer Green Apple 7-2 and whipped Didsbury 10-1. In novice action, the Occudent Rednecks downed Didsbury Electric 5-2 and edged Eastside Certiguard 4-3.
