Flames and Oilers rookies set to return to Red Deer

The Young Guns Battle of Alberta is set to be renewed in Red Deer.

The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames announced in partnership with the Red Deer Rebels that they will bring their rookies back for a game at the Centrium on Sept. 7.

It will come at the conclusion of the Oilers rookie camp and just ahead of the start of main training camp.

Tickets are $25 and will go on sale Friday, Aug. 9.

Past Oilers’ rookie teams have included 10 current Oilers. The list includes Caleb Jones (2018), Kailer Yamamoto (2018), Matthew Benning (2016), Jesse Puljujarvi (2016), Ethan Bear (2015), Connor McDavid (2015), Leon Draisaitl (2014), Darnell Nurse (2013), Jujhar Khaira (2012), Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (2011) and Oscar Klefbom (2011).

Last season, in the first edition of the rivalry matchup in Red Deer, the Flames knocked off the Oilers 6-3.
