Former NHL tough guy Bob Probert has died, Windsor radio station CKLW reports.

WINDSOR, Ont. — Former NHL tough guy Bob Probert has died, Windsor radio station CKLW reports.

Windsor police spokeswoman Shawna Coulter told The Sporting News that Probert collapsed while in a boat on Lake St. Clair.

Emergency responders attempted CPR on shore.

Probert was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Probert, who started his NHL career with the Red Wings in 1985, became widely known as one of the leagues top tough guys.

He retired as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2002.
