Frobert wins fourth 5-pin trophy

Lawrence Fobert of Lacombe captured his fourth Red Deer Advocate trophy as the Central Alberta 5-Pin Bowlers Association men’s open champion at Riverside Bowl during the weekend.

Fobert averaged 277 over 16 games.

Meanwhile Jennifer Campbell of Olds averaged 273 to take the women’s title.

Gary Baird of Blackfalds (275 average) and Derek Dobbs of Red Deer (271) will also bowl singles while other members of the men’s team will be Vince Chartier of Leduc (260), Gene Ziebarth of Millet (254) and Eric Andersen of Ponoka (253).

Nancy Gervais (239) and Donna Hort (230) of Red Deer will also bowl singles while Bonnie Clermont of Red Deer (222) and Andrea Leavitt (225) and Barb Taillon (219) of Drumheller round out the ladies’ team.

The mixed team is made up of Amanda Brunke (211) and Rhonda Barber (205) of Red Deer, Amy Dillen of Ponoka (196), Terry Ell of Innisfail (253), Harvey Von Hollen of Red Deer (251) and Karie Kreutz of Wetaskiwin (248).

Ziebarth had the high score of the weekend with a 396 while the ladies high game of 371 was rolled by Leavitt.

Coaches selected were Danny Clapp, Bob Guthrie and Mike Tweedy with Clint Redekopp the contingent manager.

The Central Alberta team will compete in the provincial championships April 20-23 in Lethbridge.
