Generals blow past Eagles

Also scoring for the Generals, who were 4-2 winners over the host Innisfail Eagles Friday, were Don Morrison, Torrie Dyck, Keenan Desmet, Brett Robertson, Cody Esposito and Kyle Sheen. Giffen Nyren picked up three assists for the visitors.

Dustin Butler blocked 17 shots for the shutout. Stony Plain netminders Wade Waters and Sheldon Baerg combined to make 34 saves.

In Friday’s victory, Esposito potted the eventual winner at 8:59 of the third period and Desmet sealed the deal with an empty-net goal in the final minute. Sheen and Teegan Moore also scored for the Generals in front of 850 fans.

Mike Wirll and Chad Ziegler sniped third-period goals for the Eagles, who got a 20-save outing from Travis Ziegler. Travis Yonkman made 33 saves for Bentley.

• Innisfail fell 4-2 to the host Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs Saturday to result in a 0-2 weekend.

Jason Nopper and Andrew Bergmann accounted for the Eagles goals and Ziegler stopped 17 shots in a losing cause. The Chiefs got a two-goal performance from Brian Woolger and a 40-save outing from David Tetrault.
