Goaltender Jose Theodore’s two-month-old son dies

The Washington Capitals and Jose Theodore’s sister-in-law say the NHL goaltender’s two-month-old son has died.

MONTREAL — The Washington Capitals and Jose Theodore’s sister-in-law say the NHL goaltender’s two-month-old son has died.

Veronique Cloutier, whose sister Stephanie is married to Theodore, made the announcement Thursday on her show on a Montreal-area radio station.

Cloutier did not want to give any other details.

The Capitals issued a statement acknowledging the tragedy.

“We are aware of the heartbreaking news,” said general manager George McPhee. “At this time we ask that everyone respects the privacy of Jose and his family.”

Theodore and Stephanie Cloutier also have a three-year-old daughter, Romy.
