Grant Oh wins Alberta Senior Championship in Olds

In the end, Calgary’s Grant Oh pulled away from the pack in the Alberta Senior Championship at Olds Golf Club.

In the end, Calgary’s Grant Oh pulled away from the pack in the Alberta Senior Championship at Olds Golf Club.

Oh fired a final-round best four-under-par 68, on a rain-soaked course Friday, winning the 54 hole event by three strokes over James Varnam. Oh finished the weekend with an eight-under 208.

Camrose’s Frank Van Dornick finished in third at even par for the event, after firing a one-under 71 Friday.

Red Deer’s Ken Griffith, who was the defending champion, finished tied for fourth with a three-over 219 for the weekend. He shot 76 in the opening round, before a three-under 69 Thursday.

Wade Thurber, representing River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, was in the hunt at the start of the say Friday, ended up in a tie for 19th after a 10-over day.
