Kale Howarth and Levi Glasman recognized by BCHL

A pair of Central Alberta teammates in the British Columbia Junior A Hockey League were recognized this week.

Kale Howarth, 20, in his final season with the Trail Smoke Eaters picked up first-team all-star honours and teammate Levi Glasman was named to the all-rookie team.

Howarth, from Red Deer had a career year in his third campaign with the Smoke Eaters, posting 24 goals and 37 assists in 44 games. In four playoff games, he has eight points.

The six-foot-five, 201-pound forward was drafted in the fifth round, 148th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He’ll play the 2018-2019 season at the University of Connecticut.

Glasman, a Lacombe native, was nearly a point-per-game player in his first BCHL season. He notched 24 goals and added 28 assists in 53 games. In four playoff games, he had seven points.

The 18-year-old played for the Red Deer Optimist Midget AAA Chiefs last year and had 38 points in 34 games.

The Smoke Eaters are currently in the second round of the BCHL Playoffs against the Penticton Vees.
