Team Alberta had some Red Deer help to open the 2019 Women’s Invitational Championships.
Alberta scored a dramatic 7-6 walk-off win over Team BC to open the national tournament in Okotoks on Friday morning.
Center fielder Kelsey Lalor played a big role in the victory, cashing in a three-RBI double in a six-run fifth inning. She had two hits on the game.
Third baseman Hayley Lalor started the rally in the fifth with Alberta trailing 2-0. She singled and came around to score the first run of the six-run inning.

B.C. scored once in the sixth and three times in the seventh to tie the game at six, setting up a dramatic finish in the bottom half.
Ellie Jespersen walked to start the seventh, then Madison Willan was hit by a pitch. Kelsey singled to left and set up a Haylee Sidor sac-fly to win the game for Alberta.
Hayley continued to roll in 10-9 walk off win over the Prospects. She had three hits including a walk off single in the victory, while Kelsey pitches two and two thirds innings with three strikeouts.
Saturday, Alberta takes on Ontario 2 in the morning, followed by Quebec at 8 p.m. The gold medal game is Monday at 9:30 a.m.
