Ken Griffith to play in Canadian Senior Championships in Red Deer

Red Deer’s Ken Griffith will be a dual representative next month when the 2022 Canadian Senior Golf Championships take flight at the Red Deer Golf and Country Club.

Griffith, a member of the country club qualified for the September national championship, after finishing fourth at the Alberta Senior Men’s Championship at Desert Blume Golf Course in Medicine Hat Friday.

He finished the three-day event five-over-par (70-74-77), two shots back of the eventual winner Kelly Risling. Griffith, along with Senan Foley and Risling will make up Alberta’s interprovincial team at the 2022 Canadian Senior Golf Championships, slated to take place in Red Deer from September 5 to 9. Also joining him from the Red Deer Golf and Country Club are Peter Innes and Grant Lee

The Red Deer native was tied at four-over with four holes to go in the event before bogies on the 15th and 17th hole. He was tied for the lead with Risling and James Varnam heading into the final round. After an opening round 70, Griffth was three-shots behind leader Allan Ross.

Griffith won the senior Alberta title in 2019 and has represented the province numerous times at the national event.
