Kings and Queens medal at ACAC Indoor Track Championships

The RDC Kings and Queens ran wild in Calgary at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Track Championships.

For the Queens, they finished with an impressive silver performance and the Kings won bronze. Individually, RDC runners brought home four ACAC medals.

Matt Hope earned bronze in the men’s 1500 metre race with a time of four minutes and eight seconds, just behind Concordia University of Edmonton runner Leonard Chesoo and the winner, SAIT’s Matthew Travaglini.

Queens runner Shayla Sklaruk also medaled at the event, bringing home gold in 600m after a gold in the 300m Friday. Sandra Garcia-Bernal earned bronze in the 1,500m in 5:12.38.

Lauren Pasiuk, Shayla Sklaruk, Jill Stewart and Garcia-Bernal also combined to win gold in the 4x400m relay.

The women’s team from MacEwan finished the two-day event with 83 points. RDC finished second with 66 points, earning silver. Concordia University of Edmonton placed third with 25 total points.

The Trojans men’s team earned 69 points over the weekend, while MacEwan finished in second with 49 points. RDC edged Concordia for the bronze, beating them by one point (36).
