Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics announced Kings hockey forward Jaxon Steele has been named the Athlete of the Week.

Steele scored the game-winning goal in Game 3 of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Men’s Hockey Championship to win the best-of-five series and their second straight title.

Tied 2-2 in double overtime against the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre Steele knocked in the loose puck past the sprawling goaltender to win the championship.

Other than his series-clinching heroics, Steele played an important role throughout the Kings playoff run.

He notched six points in five playoff games. He had three points in three games during the championship series and also had three points in the semi-finals series against the Alberta-Augustana Vikings.
