Red Deer’s Regan Lauscher is focused on a good start to the luge season.

WHISTLER — Red Deer’s Regan Lauscher slid to a silver medal at the Fast Track Capital Canadian Luge Championships on Thursday.

Lauscher finished the four-run championship in a total time of 3:18.915. Alex Gough won the women’s event with a time of 3:17.113. Meaghan Simister, of Regina, rounded out the top[ three with a time of 3:19.527.

Calgary’s Sam Edney won the men’s event in 3:10.498 while Jeff Christie and Ian Cockerline — both also of Calgary — finished in 3:11.545 and 3:12.634.

Chris and Mike Moffat won the men’s double’s gold in a time of 1:38.281 over two runs.

The Canadian Luge Association will announce the 10-member Olympic team on Saturday in Calgary.
