Their eighth championship since 2001

The Lindsay Thurber Raiders are provincial champions once again.

For the second year in a row, the senior girls’ volleyball team are Alberta Schools Athletic Association 4A provincial champions defeating Salisbury Composite High School in the provincial final on Saturday.

Just last weekend the girls became central zone league champions to book their ticket to provincials as the number one ranked team in their pool.

In pool play, the Raiders beat number two Salisbury, number three Strathcona, and number four William Aberhart all in straight sets.

In the playoffs, the Raiders took down Chinook on Friday and advanced to the next round. In the semi-finals, they knocked out Strathcona Saturday morning to book their ticket to the final.

Defeating Salisbury Saturday afternoon marks the Raiders’ second straight provincial title and eighth since 2001.
