The bad news continues to pile up for the B.C. Lions. The CFL team, which has dropped its opening two regular-season games, learned Monday that veteran kicker Paul McCallum is out indefinitely with a right knee injury.

A team official said McCallum, 39, suffered the injury in B.C’s 31-28 home-opening loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday night.

McCallum was injured trying to tackle Hamilton’s Marquay McDaniel during a punt return. McCallum also reportedly suffered a broken wrist.

Backup kicker Sean Whyte, a native of Surrey, B.C., is currently on the club’s injured list but could be activated in time for the Lions’ game against Edmonton on Thursday night.
