Penhold’s Katie Pasutto set a new benchmark at the central zone high school track and field championships last week in Stettler.
On Wednesday, May 24 Pasutto, who’s from Penhold Crossing Secondary School, broke the senior girl’s 80 metre hurdle record with a time of 12.08. The new benchmark beats the former 12.28 seconds convincingly.
Pasutto is the defending ASAA Champion and she was also nominated as the top senior female athlete of the zone after winning not only the 80m hurdles but also the 100m and 200m sprints.
From Notre Dame High School Cassidy Bouchard captured the senior girl’s 300m hurdles in 50.58 and was a member of the junior girl’s 4x100m relay team alongside teammates Aurelia Kozoletova, Georgia Stevens, and Paige Zinger who finished first in 52.34.
Wainwright’s Morgan Tiede also put on an impressive performance winning the senior girls’ 1,500m run and 3,000m run in 5:13.30 and 11:13.00
Lindsay Thurber’s Tricia Madourie captured the senior girls’ high jump in 1.70m and the long jump in 4.99m. Meanwhile, Condor’s Anna Trieber win the senior girls’ 1kg discus throw with an impressive 27.42m throw and the 600g javelin throw with a 34.94m throw.
St. Joseph High School senior boys 100m relay team of Sawyer Marshall, Sander Sampson, Nate Mountjoy, and Ryley Doig took home first place in 46.17.
Sampson also won the senior boys’ 6 kg shot put with 10.93m and Doig was victorious in the senior boys’ 100m dash in 11.46.
