VAUGHAN, Ont. — The Red Deer Servus Credit Union Braves downed Saskatchewan 4-3 in their seventh-place game Sunday to finish the Canadian bantam AAA baseball championships with a 3-3 record.

The Braves missed an opportunity to advance to the championship quarter-finals when they were upset by 9-7 by P.E.I. Saturday.

Further information on the Red Deer games was unavailable.

Ontario won the championship with a 4-2 win over Quebec.

Quebec downed New Brunswick 2-1 and Ontario stopped Vaughan, 5-4 in the semifinals while Vaughan downed Nova Scotia 9-7 and New Brunswick beat B.C. 9-6 in the quarter-finals.

• The senior AAA national finals in Dartmouth, N.S., were postponed Sunday because of Hurricane Bill.

The Fort Saskatchewan A’s have a 3-1 record heading into the playoffs today.

Rovers take soccer title

The Red Deer Rovers FC captured the Jed Farmer Memorial men’s soccer tournament championship on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Vonway Homes.

Earlier, the Rovers posted 4-0 shutouts over Olds Olympia and Red Deer Condor.

The Ferus Green Hornets beat Condor 4-1 in the B-side final.
