Red Deer players short-listed

Red Deer products Joel Topping and Scott Feser are among the 35 players short-listed for further evaluation in selecting Team Alberta for the 2011 Canada Winter Games Feb. 19-27 at Halifax.

A total of 80 players were evaluated at a Team Alberta under-16 provincial development camp last month in Camrose.

The short-listed players will be scouted with their club teams until the final 20-player provincial squad is named.

Topping, a defenceman, and Feser, a forward, are strong candidates to play with the midget AAA Red Deer Optimist Rebels this season.

Meanwhile, Mike Pruss of River Bend carded an 80 in the 14-and-under division and Theo Olver of Three Hills checked in with an 83.

Pasula, Pruss and Olver have all qualified for the season-ending tour championship next Monday at Wolf Creek.
