A pair of Central Alberta Sting AA Ringette program teams captured medals at the Lacombe AA Ice Breakers tournament during the weekend.

The U12 petite girls’ squad dropped a 7-6 decision to Calgary Foster in the final while the Sting downed the Edmonton junior AA squad 8-5 in the bronze medal game in the U16 division.

Grizzlys named to all-star team

Four members of the Olds Grizzlys have been named to the South Division team to compete in the annual Alberta Junior Hockey League all-star game, which is part of the Scott Safety All-Star Weekend, Jan. 29-30 in Fort McMurray,

Goaltender Marc Boulanger, defenceman Frank Carbonaro and forward Jordy Kwas were voted to the team by the coaches and general managers with forward Corey Campbell added to the 21-man roster by the coaching staff.

Women’s Basketball

Julie Young dropped in 22 points and Kelsey Sinclair 17 as the North Stars downed the Triple Threat 65-29 in North Stars Ladies Basketball League action Monday.

Brenda Dryer had nine points in a losing cause.

• Carla Lauchman had 23 points and Jaci Harvoth 10 as the Spartans downed Riff Raff 58-31. Candace Stamp had 12 points for Riff Raff.

• Wild Bill’s recorded a 59-40 victory over Funk as Andi Crowe-Swords had 15 points and Eliza Lewis 12. Alison Lundall hit 12 points and Kim Chalmers 11 for Funk.
