OLDS — The Olds Grizzlys evened their Alberta Junior Hockey League record at 19-19-6 with a 4-2 win over the St. Albert Steel Wednesday.

Taylor Bourne had a pair of goals with Brandon Sloan and Taylor Elliott potting single markers for the Grizzlys. Tyler Parks and Austin Yadlowski replied for the Steel, who trailed 2-0 and 3-2 after the periods.

Riley Parker finished with 24 saves in goal for Olds while Rhys Hadfield stopped 28 for St. Albert, who took three of nine minor penalties.

The Grizzlys return to action Sunday when they visit Camrose.

JV Cougars sweep Sylvan Lake

The Notre Dame Cougars took both ends of a Central Alberta Junior Varsity Basketball League doubleheader from Sylvan Lake Wednesday, winning the girls’ contest 43-29 and the boys’ game 71-17.

Denea Nielsen led the Notre Dame girls with seven points while Abbey Busch had 10 for Sylvan Lake, who trailed 22-5 at the half, but rallied to within 28-21 in the third quarter to make it a game.

Louis Recto led the 3-0 Notre Dame boys with 15 points while Diego Menijvar had 12. Joey O’Donell had 11 for the Lakers.
