Local sports briefs – November 26

Kyle Maas fired four goals and David Jantzie recorded a hat trick on Tuesday as the Blackfalds Wranglers whipped the visiting Stettler Lightning 11-0 in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action.

Kyle Maas fired four goals and David Jantzie recorded a hat trick on Tuesday as the Blackfalds Wranglers whipped the visiting Stettler Lightning 11-0 in Heritage Junior B Hockey League action.

Also scoring for the winners were Jared Williams, Brett Lapointe, Tyler Ellerby and Jason Bell, while netminder Tanner Schalin turned aside 24 shots.

Landon Schmidt and Garrett Laidler combined to make 37 saves for the Lightning, who were assessed the lone major penalty. The clubs split 10 minors.

The Wranglers are in Didsbury on Saturday to face the Mountainview Colts, then take on the host Vipers on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Red Deer Arena.

Stettler plays the host Rimbey Rock on Saturday.


HMI downs Burnt Lake in men’s hoop

HMI got a 23-point performance from Kaye Kronebusch in downing Burnt Lake Stables 97-62 in Central Alberta Senior Men’s Basketball Association play Tuesday.

James Johanson had 18 points for Burnt Lake.
