A trio of Lacombe athletes have been added to Team USA to compete in the world ringette championships in Tampere, Finland, Nov. 1-6.

Lacombe players added to USA ringette team

A trio of Lacombe athletes have been added to Team USA to compete in the world ringette championships in Tampere, Finland, Nov. 1-6.

Jamie and Dailyn Bell and Lindsay Brown grew up playing ringette in Lacombe and now play for the Edmonton U19 Elite and Edmonton WAM program.

They were first seen by the US team in August when they played an exhibition game against the US national squad and were eligible to compete for the USA as their great grandmother was from the States.


Bulldogs win

The Bulldogs edged the Warriors 78-71 in Central Alberta Senior Men’s Basketball Association play Tuesday.

Michael Kearl had 11 points and Byron Morin eight for the ‘Dogs while Darren Wright had 18 and Eric Dortman 11 for the Warriors.


Raiders triumph in doubleheader

The Lindsay Thurber Raiders took both ends of the Central Alberta High School Volleyball League doubleheader from the Central Alberta Christian High School from Lacombe Tuesday.

The Raiders won the boys’ contest 25-19, 25-21, 25-13 and the girls’ match 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.

Taylor Heist was the player of the match for LTCHS girls while Reagan Kooyman was the top player for CACHS.

Meanwhile in Ponoka, the host Broncos downed Innisfail 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 25-14 in senior action and 25-18, 25-12, 15-25, 25-7 in junior varsity play.
