The Chinook Hockey League’s West Central Alberta Rams have a new coach and general manager.

Jason Stephens of Sylvan Lake comes to the program with a long line of coaching successes in both hockey and in-line hockey.

Stephens, who has been coaching in Sylvan Lake the last couple of years, also coached the Red Deer Vipers in 2004 and has a High Performance level I coaching certificate.

Raiders beat Innisfail

The Lindsay Thurber Raiders opened their Central Alberta High School Girls’ Volleyball League regular season with a 3-0 win over Innisfail Tuesday.

The Raiders, who won the RDC Fall Classic preseason tournament, won 25-19, 25-10, 25-12.

The Raiders beat Notre Dame 25-23, 25-17 in the RDC event after downing Sedgewick 2-1 in the semifinals. Notre Dame beat Provost 2-0.

Central Alberta league action continues tonight with the Notre Dame gitls at West Central in Rocky and the Lacombe boys and girls at Camrose.
