Local teams in lacrosse championships

Red Deer will field three teams in the provincial A and C lacrosse championships this weekend in Red Deer.

Red Deer teams will compete in the A division in peewee, bantam and midge. There is also a bantam C category.

In peewee, the Red Deer Chiefs meet the Axemen at 3 p.m. Friday at the Kin City A Arena and the Posse at 7 p.m. at the Collicutt Centre.

On Saturday the Chiefs meet the Warriors at 10 a.m. at Kin City B and the Hornets Goods at 5:30 p.m. at the Collicutt Centre.

The third and fourth-place teams, following preliminary play, meet Sunday at 11 a.m. with the top two teams clashing for gold at 1 p.m. Both games are the Collicutt Centre.

The Chiefs open play in the bantam division at 1 p.m. Friday at Kin City A against the Axemen. They meet Lethbridge at 8:30 p.m., also at Kin City A.

On Saturday they clash with the Blues at 10 a.m. and the Titans at 7 p.m., both at the Collicutt Centre.

The bronze medal game goes at 11 a.m. and the final at 1 p.m. at Kin City B on Sunday.

In midget action, the Chiefs open play Friday at 11 a.m. against the Sabrecats while they clash with Vermilion at 7 p.m. Both games are at Kin City B.

On Saturday they face the Hornets at noon at the Collicutt Centre and the Axemen at 9 p.m. at Kin City A.

The third-place game goes Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the final at 4:30 p.m. Both at Kin City A.
