11-year-old Mateo Diz won the goalkeeper wars at the 2024 Airdrie Summit Cup for the second years in a row.

For the second year in a row, local 11-year-old soccer netminder Mateo Diz brought home a first-place victory in goalkeeper wars at the 2024 Airdrie Summit Cup.

The annual soccer tournament in Airdrie took place last weekend and features a goalkeeper wars competition that challenges each participant to see who could make the most saves while simultaneously trying to score on their opponent's net.

Diz, who represented SC Central in Red Deer, competed against 11 other goalies in the U12 category and won first place. This marked the second year in a row he won the event after winning in 2023 in the U11 division as a member of the Red Deer Renegades.
