With school officially out for the summer, tournament golf season is in full swing for young players.

Innisfail Golf and Country Club was the second stop on the McLennan Ross Alberta Golf Junior Tour and was the kickoff to a busy slate of tournaments.

For the first time in the 24-year history of the event, it was held as a parent junior format. With a large contingent of young players teeing it off in High River, newer players on the tour had a chance to shine on Tuesday.

In the boys born in 2003/04 category, Anthony Chatwood of Innisfail took home top spot with an 83. Innisfail’s Cole Fox finished second with an 85. Olds native Reid Williamson was fourth.

Chase Bodoano won the older age group with a 79 and Red Deer’s Dyson Zukiwsky finished fourth. In the boys born 2005 or late category, Aidan Fong won the group and Old’s product Brae Roglczuk finished third. Representing River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, Kade McGowan finished fifth.

The next Central Alberta stop on the tour is July 10 in Olds.
