Ponoka’s Maddison Pearman will suit up for Team Canada once again next season.
On Wednesday Speed Skating Canada announced the Canadian National and NextGen long track teams for the 2023-24 season.
Pearman was listed as one of 26 names on the NextGen roster which included many from across the country. In addition, 12 were named to the National team for a total of 38 athletes.
The 27-year-old has a track record of success on the national and international stage most notably competing for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The skaters were placed on each team based on their results from last season and they will train with the country’s best coaches in Calgary and Quebec City.
The national long track season will begin in the fall at the Canadian Long Track Championships from Oct. 5-8 at the Olympic Oval in Calgary.
Canada will also host international competitions including the ISU World Cup in Quebec City and the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Calgary. Both are scheduled for February.
