A call RCMP responded to of a distressed male threatening to harm himself had a tragic end as the man was found dead north of Sundre.

On Sunday afternoon, members of the Sundre RCMP were called to a rural residence north of town. A 57-year-old man was reported to be armed with a firearm and was threatening to hurt himself.

Police responded with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team at about 4 p.m.

When they arrived at the residence, the man was found dead. The cause of death is to be determined pending an autopsy scheduled for later this week.

Police do not suspect foul play.

Family of the deceased man are requesting that his name not be released.
