TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs have added another gritty forward, signing free-agent Colby Armstrong to a US$9-million, three-year deal.

The 27-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Atlanta Thrashers.

Armstrong had 15 goals and 29 points in 79 games last season.

He’s the second forward to be added to the team in as many days.

On Wednesday night, the Leafs acquired Kris Versteeg and prospect Sweatt from Chicago for Viktor Stalberg and prospects Philippe Paradis and Chris DiDomenico.
