Matchups set for high school basketball 4A central zone finals

Thurber will have both teams in the finals

The matchups for the senior boys and girls 4A central zone championships have been set.

On Thursday eight teams were in action for a chance to earn a spot in the zone championship for their schools.

On the girl’s side, the Lindsay Thurber Raiders beat the Hunting Hills Lightning 100-20 and the Notre Dame Cougars knocked off the Lacombe Rams 79-63.

The Raiders and Cougars will begin their best-of-three series for the zone title on Tuesday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at Lindsay Thurber High School. The second game will be at Notre Dame High School on Thursday, March 9 at 6 p.m. If needed, they’ll play the third game on Friday at Lindsay Thurber.

On the men’s side, the Raiders beat the Lightning 67-53 meanwhile the Rams eliminated the Cougars by just one point 79-78.

The Raiders and Rams will also begin next Tuesday and will tip off following the girl’s game at Lindsay Thurber. The second game will be played in Lacombe on March 9 at 6 p.m. and if a third game is required they’ll be back at Lindsay Thurber on March 10.
