Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics announced on Tuesday that Kings and Queens soccer players McKenna Leslie and Grant Johnson were named RDP Athletes of the Week.

Leslie, a first-year bachelor of education student from Red Deer, helped the Queens earn their third straight victory with back-to-back wins over the weekend in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.

The rookie forward led the way for the Queens with three goals and three assists in two games. In an 8-2 win over the Medicine Hat Rattlers, she scored a hat trick and added two assists en route to winning player of the game.

In Sunday's 2-1 win over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, she assisted on the Queens' first goal on the road. The Queens are now 3-1 through the first four games of the regular season in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and are in second place in the standings.

This weekend the Queens and Leslie will look to continue their hot streak against the Olds College Broncos on Saturday in Olds at noon.

Red Deer's Grant Johnson, who's in his third year of open studies, helped the Kings earn a victory and a tie on the road last weekend through his stellar offensive play.

He notched two goals and won players of the game in a 3-2 victory against the Rattlers and assisted on two goals in a 2-2 in Lethbridge on Sunday.

The Kings are now 1-1-2 and in third place in the ACAC men's soccer standings. They'll face the Broncos this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Olds College.
