N. Jensen’s Bandits to host Softball Championships in Blackfalds

Action will begin Friday and end Sunday

The Red Deer Ladies Fastball Association have announced they will be hosting the Senior Women’s Western Canadian Softball Championships this weekend.

From Aug. 5 to 7 the three-day tournament will be held in Blackfalds at All-Star Park and will feature teams from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

The public can purchase tickets for $10 a day or $20 for a three-day pass. The Red Deer N. Jensen’s Bandits are the host team joined by Calgary Rogues, Elnora Eagles, Manitoba Central Energy, and the Earl Grey Heat from Saskatchewan.

On Friday the tournament will begin with two games at 11 a.m. The first is between the Calgary Rogues and Central Heat as well as the Elnora Eagles and Earl Grey Heat. At 2 p.m. the N. Jensen’s Bandits take on the Calgary Rogues and at 5 p.m. there will be another doubleheader. Central Energy will play the Elnora Eagles and the Earl Grey Heat will verse the Bandits.

With more action on Saturday which kicks off at 9 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m., the Elnora Eagles will take on the Calgary Rogues at 9 a.m. Also beginning at that time will be the Earl Grey Heat against Central Energy. At noon the host team will play the Elnora Eagles and at 3 p.m. the Calgary Rogues play the Earl Grey Heat. Also at 3 p.m. is the Central Energy against N. Jensen’s Bandits.

The championship games both begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The winners of those two games will take on the losers on Sunday, Aug. 7 in the championship finals at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
