Olds Grizzly can’t find win

It was a tough weekend for the Olds Grizzlys in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, as the team dropped both weekend games.

On Saturday night, the Grizzlys held tough against the Spruce Grove Saints, but ultimately fell short in a 5-4 loss.

Ryley Smith and Jared Bowman got Olds out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, before Parker Saretsky scored for the Saints to cut the lead in half.

The Saints then scored three unanswered goals in the second, but the Grizzlys responded with a power play goal from Landon Gross and a late period marker from Smith to tie the game at four.

Eric Olson scored the game winner for the Saints at 18:05 of the third. Andrew Henderson made 32 saves in the Olds net.

In their Sunday matinee game, the Grizzlys lost 6-2 to the Bonnyville Pontiacs after falling behind 4-0 early in the second period.

Ryley Smith once again opened the scoring for Olds at 14:36 of the second and Chase Olsen added a power play marker at 17:40.
