The Red Deer Optimist Chiefs met an unlikely end at the Mac’s Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament.
After running the table with four wins in round-robin play, Red Deer fell 3-0 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the quarterfinal.
Lethbridge opened the scoring in the first, then buried two power-play goals the rest of the way to earn the victory.
Hurricanes goalie Brayden Peters stopped 27 shots for the shutout.
Chiefs fall to Hurricanes 3-0 in quarter finals @MacsTournament not the result we wanted but we are proud of our boys and how they grew and played as a team and for each other…At the end of the day this is just a stepping stone..not our ultimate goal! #Teluscup #OC pic.twitter.com/IJRNh4mlRl
