Penalty trouble hurts Red Deer College Queens chance in loss

EDMONTON — The RDC Queens ran into penalty trouble and it finally did them in as they allowed a pair of power play goals in a 2-1 loss to the MacEwan University Griffins Saturday.

The Queens held a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes on a first-period goal by Breanna Martin.

The Griffins pulled even at 7:07 of the third period when Morgan Casson scored with the Queens two-players short. Michelle Pochapski got the winning goal at 18:55.

Overall the Queens were assessed nine minors and a major while the Griffins took six minors.

Alex Frisk made 23 saves for the Queens, who had 23 shots on Sandy Helm.

The teams meet again tonight at 5 p.m. at the Centrium.
