LOS ANGELES — Peter Pocklington’s bankruptcy fraud case in the United States has been iced until March 9.
The former owner of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers was to stand trial in California starting next week.
Pocklington, 67, is accused of lying under oath during bankruptcy proceedings.
Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles, would not say why the case has been postponed.
Media reports have suggested that Pocklington is seeking to plead guilty to a lesser charge to avoid going to jail.
Neither Pocklington or his lawyer were available for comment.
