Rage roll past Bandits

The Red Deer Rage ran their season record to 2-1 with a 7-4 win over the St. Albert Bandits in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League senior women’s play at the Kinex Sunday.

The Red Deer Rage ran their season record to 2-1 with a 7-4 win over the St. Albert Bandits in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League senior women’s play at the Kinex Sunday.

Deanna Hume led the Rage with four goals while Hayley deBeaudrap added two and Paige Farries one.

The Rage return to action Saturday when they host the Calgary Cougars at 4:30 p.m. at the Kinex and face the Bandits in St. Albert Sunday.

Junior

In junior B tier I action, the Red Deer Rampage split a pair of games, beating the Calgary Shamrocks 6-3 Saturday and losing 11-9 to the Calgary Jr. Mountaineers Sunday.

Marshall Just had a goal and an assist against the Shamrocks with single goals added by Mitch Vellner, Tucker Dougherty, Kevin Langlois, Spencer Lee and Tyler Gauthier. Pat Vellner and Connor Hartley had two assists each.

Just scored three times against the Mountaineers with Davis Reykdal collecting two goals and an assist. Langlois had a goal and two helpers while Ross Cunningham. Gauthier and Mitch Vellner scored once each. Trey Christensen and Cole deGraaf had two assists each.

• In junior B tier II play, Ryan Svederus netted three goals as the Red Deer Sword Transport Revenge downed Strathmore 12-7 Saturday.

Mitch Giele and Karsten Banack each tallied twice for the winners, who got singles from Brock Forbes, Levi Whitney, Mike Sargeant, Taylor Campbell and Braeden Krips.

The Sword Transport Revenge will play their first home game of the season Friday versus the Red Deer Renegades at 8:30 p.m. at the Kinex.

Midget

The Red Deer KFC midget A Chiefs maintained their unbeaten record with a 9-6 win over the Okotoks Mustangs Friday.

In B action, the Red Deer #1 team battled to a 4-4 tie with Drumheller, getting two goals from Colton Levie and singles from Nate Bellanger, Brandon Magill and Matthew Larsen.

Peewee

The Red Deer TnT Mechanical won twice and tied once in weekend action.

TnT tied Red Deer team No. 2 4-4 Friday while beating Lacoka 6-2 Saturday and Kneehill 18-0 in Three Hills Sunday.

Connor MacDougall and Elijah Johanson had two goals each for TnT against the other Red Deer team, who got two goals from Chad Mears and singles from Riley Wotyas and Khale Skinner. Derek Friesen was in goal for TnT and Gabe Rufiange for Red Deer 2.

Johanson had three goals and an assist against Lacoka with MacDougall adding two goals and an assist and Tristan Clark one goal. Friesen was in net.

Cyrus Thompson and Connor Hoffman connected for Lacoka, who had Andrew Barnes in net.

Friesen picked up the shutout against Kneehill, while Johanson had four goals and two assists, Eric Clayholt three goals and four assists, Clark three goals and an asist and Liam Wilson three goals. MacDougall finished with two goals and one helper while Nathan Shortt and Tyler Friesen had a goal and two assists each and Kale Moorman one goal. Nick McKain had three assists.

In B action, Red Deer #1 bounced Innisfail Co-op 7-3 as Keaton Sawicki netted two goals and added an assist. Cody Murry also scored twice for the winners, who got single goals from Luke Panteluk, Peter Larsen and Keenan Smith.

Replying for Innisfail were Danyon Lorencz with two goals, and Luke Welton.

The #1 team also downed host Olds 5-3 and slipped past Innisfail Servus Credit Union 7-6.

Peter Larsen sniped three goals versus Olds, with Smith and Panteluk also connecting. Teagan Smith, Braden Smith and Morgan Kirton scored in a losing cause.

Larsen also recorded a hat trick in the win over Innisfail, while Keaton Kennedy tallied twice and Sawicki and Erin Breyton also scored for the winners. Brent Marshall led Servus Credit Union with four goals and one helper, and Devin Petersen, Ryan Shaw and Carter Blair were the other marksmen.
