On Tuesday evening the Alberta Schools Athletic Association 4A central zone senior basketball finals commenced.

The four best senior girls and boys teams tipped off their three-game series to determine the champions of the central zone.

The senior girls Lindsay Thurber Raiders on their home court left no doubt with a 90-25 victory over the Notre Dame Cougars in game one.

The Raiders will have an opportunity to be crowned champions Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Notre Dame High School with a win. But if the Cougars win on their own floor game three will go ahead on Friday at 6 p.m. back at Lindsay Thurber.

The senior boys Lacombe Rams beat the Raiders at Lindsay Thurber High School to capture game one 102-88.

The Rams will look to eliminate the Raiders and win the zone championship Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in Lacombe. If needed, game three will return to Thurber on Friday.
