Queens 4 Broncos 0 (Queens lead best-of-five series 2-0)

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens have a stranglehold on the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association Women’s Hockey Final.

The Queens were dominant Sunday Olds, as they posted a 4-0 shutout victory to earn a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Queens second-year netminder Madison Fox was perfect in the win with 24 saves. The Maple Ridge, B.C. product earned player of the game honours for her efforts.

Kiera Mulder opened the scoring for the Queens on the power play with 1:25 left in the first and Jailyn Bablitz extended the lead with just 26 seconds left in the period. Alli Soyko and Monica Bowtell added second-period tallies for the Queens as they rolled to the win.

The Queens were 2-for-7 on the power play while the Broncos went 0-for-9 in the loss. Cienna Kinghorn allowed all four goals for the Broncos and finished with 23 saves.

RDP will have an opportunity to wrap up the series on home ice. They host the Broncos for Game 3 of the series, with puck drop at 7 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
