The Queens go into the championships Friday as the second-ranked team in the South Division, but they have the coach of the year and four all-stars in the south.

First-year coach David McCarthy, who led the Queens to a 7-0-3 regular season record, received the coaching award while forward Stephanie Tremblay, midfielder Allison Walsh, defender Amber Regnier and keeper Lauren Good were on the all-star team.

Tremblay led the Queens with nine goals and 10 games while Good posted a sparkling 0.71 goals-against-average.

The Queens open playoff action Friday at noon against Grant MacEwan University of Edmonton with the winner facing undefeated NAIT at noon Saturday. The final is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.

Meanwhile, three members of the RDC Kings — midfielder Geng Thian, defender Patrick Sweiger and keeper Brad Hughes — were named to the men’s south all-star team.
