RDC wins team title at Grand Prix #5

Queens second and Kings third in Camrose

The RDC Kings and Queens had a strong showing in Camrose at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Grand Prix #5.

As a whole, RDC collected the team trophy, with the best combined men’s and women’s result among ACAC teams.

The Queens took second as a group without Jill Stewart and Caitlin Debree, finishing seven points beyond the Lethbridge College Kodiaks.

Queens runner Shayla Sklaruk (24:52) finishing second among ACAC women. Mackenzie Spinks (26:36) was ninth and Shayna Brower (26:42) was only six seconds behind in tenth spot. Red Deer’s Shaelyn Moltzahn (26:53) placed 11th. Jenna Sahulka (28:24) and Lauren Pasiuk (28:34) were 18th and 19th.

The Kings tied for second with the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings at 46 points but were pushed to third in the tie-breaker.

Lacombe’s Daniel Szucs (28:30) led the Kings, he finished fourth among ACAC men. Devin Saunders (28:41) was only 11 seconds behind his teammate and ended up sixth. Nathan Swartz (30:08) was 12th and Carson Schiller (31:55) wrapped up 24th. The Kings were without talented first-year Will Cebuliak.

SAIT will host the ACAC Cross Country Running Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26.
