The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens continued their success just over halfway through the season.
In Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference action, the Queens won 2-1 and the Kings 5-1 over the Ambrose University Lions on the road on Saturday.
For the Queens, Kennedy Van Arragon scored in the first half followed by a late tally by McKenna Leslie at the 84th minute of the second half to beat the Lions.
Goalkeeper Jana Leskewich made two saves on three shots giving up a goal in the first half to Lindsay Hesjedal early in the second half.
The Queens also played on Sunday at home against Alberta-Augustana Vikings.
In the Kings match, Ajdin Sarcevis and Grant Johnson each scored twice followed by a goal from Jaxon Fernandes to lift the Kings to victory. Sarcevic now leads the ACAC with 20 points which includes a league-leading eight goals and four assists, which is good enough for third in the ACAC.
Kings goalkeeper Brian Murray made nine saves and gave up just one goal to Nate McFadyen late in the second half.
The Kings are now 3-1-2 with four games left in the regular season and the Queens are 5-1 with five games remaining.
