It was a memorable start to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association cross country season for the RDP Kings and Queens.

The Kings earned gold at Grand Prix one in Edmonton, while the Queens picked up bronze at the first meet for both teams in nearly two years.

The Kings dominated the top five individual positions over eight kilometres.

Lacombe’s Daniel Szucs (30:22) finished third among ACAC men. Teammate Devin Saunders (32:08), a Bachelor of Business Administration General Management student, followed in fourth and newcomer Jayden Wildcat (33:23) had an impressive showing rounding out the top five.

Leading the way for the RDP Queens was first-year Justine Larson (29:53), who grabbed third spot among ACAC female runners over 6 km in Edmonton.

The University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings will host Running Room Grand Prix #2 on Oct. 2 at 2 pm.
