Friday night’s Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens volleyball games weren’t just a pair of regular season matchups but had a bigger meaning.
As the Kings and Queens took on the Ambrose University Lions at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre it marked the annual ACAC Make Some Noise for Mental Health (MSN) campaign. It’s an annual event all 17 member schools in the ACAC take part in to promote mental health awareness.
The Queens dropped a close match with the Lions 3-2 for their third loss in a row. After the Queens took the opening set 26-24 the Lions answered with a 25-15 win in the second set.
However, in the third set both teams battled hard but the Queens ultimately got the edge 32-30. The lions took the final two sets 25-21 and 15-13 to take home the win.
On the men’s side, the Kings dominated winning in three-straight sets 25-19, 25-19, and 27-25.
On Saturday the Kings and Queens will both be back in action at Ambrose University at 6 and 8 p.m.
